Good News For Oakland’s Cannabis Community

Oakland City Council is meeting on February 16 to discuss cannabis legislation that could potentially result in more medical dispensaries, improved cultivation policy, and updated measures on regulating marijuana edibles. This is exciting news for the Oakland community that just 20 years ago in 1996 saw medical cannabis legalized when voeters passed Proposition 215, allowing critically ill aids patients to have access to medical cannabis. Council Member Libby Schaaf is pushing for Congress to support the medical cannabis community by voting against federal laws that restrict medical marijuana usage in our country. The agenda for the meeting will address marijuana regulation practices that would help bring in millions of dollars in tax revenue and will also enivitably strengthen our economy. Californians who are advocating change must follow Oakland’s legalization movement as they are pioneering the efforts towards change.
